KCHU Development Director, Lanette Oliver, returned to Valdez yesterday from Cordova. Ms. Oliver traveled to Cordova Friday, September 19th and attended a Board of Directors meeting all day Saturday, September 20th. She stayed over to meet with Cordova businesses, non-profits, and underwriters including staff members at PWS Science Center, Cordova Chamber of Commerce, and Copper River Watershed Project. She did take time to enjoy the sunset over the Cordova Harbor on Sunday evening.  Lanette returned to Valdez on the ferry Wednesday morning and is hard at work preparing for the upcoming KCHU Fall Membership Drive to be held Tuesday, September 30th through Tuesday, October 7th. Many volunteers are needed to help man phones, stuff envelopes (with ballots – we also need Board member applicants!), mail t-shirts, etc. during the drive. If you can volunteer even an hour please email development@kchu.org or call 835-4665. If you are interested in applying for the KCHU Board, you can mail your letter and bio to PO Box 467 Valdez AK 99686 or email it to kchu770am@gmail.com or gm@kchu.org

KCHU Board of Directors conducted a meeting in Cordova on Saturday, September 20th.  The all-day meeting started with a general meeting session 10am to noon, followed by a lunch break. The afternoon included a hike to see the relay tower and a work session to plan a fundraising and events calendar. After a short break BOD members gathered at The Orca Restaurant for an exceptional three course dinner, then headed to lodgings, as most had to be on the ferry early Sunday morning for the return trip to Valdez. KCHU would like to thank the people and community of Cordova for the warm welcome, especially Liz Senear, Cordova Library, and Laura’s Suites.
